Q: You’re doing the work you love. What do you like most about it? A: The people, knowing you’re actually helping them and making a difference. Most of our clientele is repeat and referral. Q: Give me a profile of your client base. A; I would say about 35 percent is male. And ages? Anywhere from 25 to 65. So it’s pretty broad and pretty broad with income as well. Q: How did you pick the name Sunflower for your spa? A: I always liked sunflowers. The sunflower is the strongest, most sturdy flower. And it reseeds itself. Everybody who works at the spa is called sunflowers. And they definitely have to live up to that reputation. They have to be strong and sturdy, giving and compassionate. Q: How many do you employ? A: Seven. Q: What would you tell people who want to be practitioners? A: You have to be passionate about what you’re doing. That’s the biggest thing. The second thing is it’s hard work. Hard work in the aspect of physically on your body. And the second aspect is building your business. It doesn’t matter if you go into an already established spa or you’re on your own. You still have to build your business and let people know you’re there. Q: How competitive is this market for your services? A: I think it’s getting to be more and more competitive. Q: You’re last regular full-time job was a technical recruiter, in Denver, from the late 1990s until 2001. What was that like? A: It was during the Internet boom. We were hiring 30 people a month, all startup companies. It was really fast paced. Then it dried up and I got laid off twice in one year. There was nothing in my field. I just hit the slopes for a while. Q: What do your customers say they find most enjoyable about your service? A: They like the atmosphere because it’s really homey. It’s warm. It feels like you’re walking right out of your house into ours. And I feel all of our girls with our customer service sets us apart. They go above and beyond and they’re really, really personable. Q: Where do you see yourself going in this business? A: We’ve grown a lot, we’re established. We’re only going to grow more, offering better services, different variety. Who knows? Maybe there will be another place. Pete Bach: 920-993-1000, ext. 430,
